Rosie & Craig | Wedding at Skipbridge Country Farm, York

I pride myself on having shot at some of the best venues that Yorkshire has to offer.  Skipbridge Country Weddings just outside York though, that was a new one.   I checked the venue out previously, I like to know what I’m walking into. What an outstanding venue!  The cottages for the bridal party and guests to get ready and stay over in were beautiful.  The wedding venue itself is spread out with a plethora of nooks and crannies.  Quirky little hobbit houses,  a fire pit and a ‘grain silo’ that’s been repurposed as a late night little bar are just some of the highlights.  There’s also Llamas and Emu’s. Probably two of nature’s most photogenic creatures.

When you have a venue this good, you need the right crowd to make the most of it.  And what a crowd.  These people where here to party!  The weather was beautiful.  It was boiling hot, which made the garden area the perfect place to take in the afternoon with a few Pimms. You also can’t go wrong with a face painting and glitter bar service, although it did bring back some memories of Phoenix Nights where the guy had the tiger face paint for a few months!  The evening celebrations moved into the Tipi and I don’t think I’ve ever taken so many dancefloor photographs.  It was packed. All night.

Wedding Day Highlights

I always like to mention the parts of a wedding that really stood out for me and this time there were so many!.  I loved shooting the portraits of Rosie & Craig.  Skipbridge Country Farm has some great spots for natural and relaxed images.   There was a couple of parts to the day that got a bit confusing for me too.  Craig’s best man was his identical twin brother.  That can make things a bit difficult for a wedding photographer.   He also had a fantastic bit in his best man’s speech.  The story of when his brother first told him that he was dating someone with the same surname as them.  A speech like that writes its own jokes.  Not many of them repeatable on here unfortunately.

Every wedding is different, so it’s hard to answer when someone asks me about my favourites.  This one though, this one would be up there.

The Venue

Check out their website here:  Skipbridge Country Weddings.  If you get married there, please book me – I’d love to go back!
