Alissa & James | Wedding at Sandburn Hall, York.

The first wedding that I photographed in the UK was at Sandburn Hall near York.  It was quite a bit smaller back then and didn’t have the beautiful hotel and preparation rooms that it does now.   It’s always nice to return there for a wedding, especially one like Alissa & James’ big day.

Alissa and the bridesmaids got ready in the preparation room at Sandburn.  It’s absolutely perfect for photographers & makeup artists, with loads of natural light.  There’s loads of space to spread out too.

With Alissa & James’ ceremony being at Sandburn too, the trip to the ceremony consisted of a 2 minute walk, with surprise accompaniment from the Bagpipes – enough to calm anyone’s nerves, I’d say…

I love the space at Sandburn,  it’s woody and warm, with a huge south facing window which provided an impressive backdrop to the ceremony today, and then later to dinner and the speeches.

That brings us to the evening entertainment – a Ceilidh.

I love the photographs that I get with a Ceilidh. They’re always so much fun and it comes across in the images…
