Meg & Harry | Wedding at Left Bank in Leeds
Meg & Harry (Not that Meg & Harry) got married in Leeds at Left Bank. If you're not familiar with Left Bank, it's a gorgeous old church that's now been converted to a inclusive community space for creativity & culture. And also weddings. It still has the character of a church inside, but it's now all open space which is great because it can be used for almost anything from exhibitions to theatre.
This big day was exactly how I like them. Unconventional & relaxed. We arranged for me to start coverage of their day from the ceremony so I arrived a bit before the Bride and Groom. It meant that I got to photograph the venue a bit and to get some photos of the guests arriving. Meg & Harry got ready & arrived together and kicked the day off in fantastic style.
With Left Bank not being an actual church anymore, the ceremony was officiated by one of their friends (I love it when that happens). Beautifully written personal and humorous vows had the guests laughing and in tears (in a good way). Then, after the ceremony, everyone made full use of the front lawn and fabulous weather and the quirky caravans and seating sheds.
Every time I photograph a wedding, I always ask if the Bride is making a speech as well as the Groom. Meg did not disappoint, with a lovely speech. I think either a joint Bride & Groom speech or one from each of them is a great way to symbolise a partnership - that's if you wanted to do a speech.
Food eaten and speeches made, it was back to the garden for the evening before the music fired up and the dancing began.
Enjoy the photos.
